The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts an annual recruitment examination for the positions of Constable (General Duty) in the Border Security Force (BSF), Secretariat Security Force (SSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Rifleman (General Duty) in the Assam Rifles.
The SSC GD Constable exam is the most important exam for individuals who desire to work for the police force in the government. It is not a particularly difficult exam, but it does demand extensive preparation and planning. Lakhs of students participate in this exam, making it extremely competitive.
The recruitment exam comprises three stages of screening i.e., Computer Based Examination (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Detailed Medical Examination & Document Verification.
Tier 1 i.e., the Computer Based Test (CBT) of the SSC GD Constable Exam comprises four subjects which are Elementary Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, and English/ Hindi. It will become easy for you to crack this exam if you have a well-thought-out preparation strategy in place.
On that note, let’s talk about a few tips, tricks and strategies to help you decide what your preparation strategy should be in each subject.
General Intelligence & Reasoning
It is the most crucial section of the exam, with 25 points. During the SSC GD Preparation of the General Intelligence & Reasoning portion, you should devote at least 2 hours per day.
Quantitative aptitude questions take longer than reasoning questions. You can do well in the SSC GD Exam if you establish a study strategy and master brief tricks with adequate guidance.
You should focus more on important topics which can fetch you more marks. These include Analogies, Coding and Decoding, Number Series, Similarities and Differences, Blood Relation, Arithmetical Reasoning and Figural Classification.
General Knowledge and General Awareness
In the SSC GD General Awareness section, any form of current events question can be asked. As a result, you should read newspapers and watch news channels to keep up with current events to prepare for the SSC GD Exam.
Make short notes so that you can review them in the days leading up to the SSC GD Exam. Keep up with current events and news daily.
For General Knowledge, go through the History, Culture, Geography, General Polity, and the Constitution of India.
Elementary Mathematics
More practise in elementary mathematics is required so that you can recognise the nature of questions quickly. This will also improve your response time when answering questions.
You should master formulas and short tricks as part of your SSC GD preparation because you will need to solve this portion in the SSC GD Written Exam.
Examine the official exam syllabus carefully and stick to it while studying. Through this, you can avoid wasting time on a topic that is not relevant or even mentioned in the exam syllabus. For example, there are many topics like Mixture and Alligation, which are commonly asked in many SSC exams, however, questions from this topic are not asked in the SSC GD Constable exam. Therefore, it would be wise to avoid wasting time on it.
Make a schedule to help you manage your time and set aside at least 3 hours every day for SSC GD Maths preparation.
Focus on more important topics that carry higher weightage in the SSC GD Constable exam. These include Number Systems, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit, Loss and Discount, Time and Distance, Mensuration and more.
